We saw an article on the brilliant io9 site with the provocative title Don’t Remake These 21 Movies, Film These Books Instead! This piece really hit home for us at Missions Unknown. We love great SF movies almost as much as we love great SF literature. Almost. You really can’t help being embarrassed as a [Read it all...]

Don't mess with Kali Maa.
I just got word that my short story “Kali Yuga” will be appearing in the upcoming “Multiethnic Issue” of INNSMOUTH FREE PRESS.

With 2009 drawing to a close, we naturally have a tendency to look back upon the year that was. We have our favorite genre-related media: books, TV, movies, comics, games and more. We asked around too and got some additional input from Doctor Who Fans Unite’s Crystal Shedrock-Rangel, KiDDandGEEZER’s Frank Zieglar, James Hartz from Film [Read it all...]

The FIFTY-TWO STITCHES anthology is almost out, and it’s aleady drawn a positive review from HORROR DRIVE-IN. That’s good news, of course, because the book features my story “The Regular.”
This is my second story for a STRANGE PUBLICATIONS anthology, and I’m sure they’ve once again done a fine job. Strange is turning out to [Read it all...]

MISSIONS UNKNOWN’s own John Picacio and Sanford Allen ventured to Armadillocon 31 in Austin, TX this past weekend and brought back the following iPhone snapshots. Here’s a little bit of flavor from the longest-running literary sf/fantasy convention in Texas.

My tale of fundamentalist fear, ”Whatsoever a Man Soweth,” is now online in the summer issue of Tales from the Moonlit Path.
It was inspired by a nightmare last fall, when it actually looked like Sarah Palin might end up a heartbeat away from the U.S.presidency. I racked up 16 rejection letters before I finally found [Read it all...]
