Join Bihl Haus Arts this Saturday, January 12 at 2 pm, when we celebrate the Rise of the 6th Sun with a gallery talk by Jane Madrigal. Jane’s exhibt Journey to the Underworld & Oher Forbidden Places before the End of Time is currently on view at the Bihl Haus. In the exhibit Jane charts a cosmic journey through time to the new age–the 6th Sun and the dawn of a feminine planetary shift. The installation includes a 3-dimensional temple construction to the Moon Goddess, Coyoxauhqui, and origin myth portals to the underworld guarded by female warrior-goddesses.
Jane will will be joined by Laura Yohuatllahuiz Rios. Born into traditional Matachin Danza, Laura continues to connect to her roots through both modern and ancestral rhythm and dance. Her recent work focuses on the music, language, dance and art of the Mexica Chichimeca tradition commonly known as Aztec. She demystifies the legacies of Mexican indigenous practices and beliefs by sharing the meaning and importance of connecting all of our senses to the natural world, as our ancestors did. Laura continues to learn and include into her repertoire the teachings of her Mexica Chichimeca chiefs in San Luis Potosi, Mexico who guide her work in the Texas communities.
The Bihl Haus is located inside the gates of Primrose at Monticello Park Senior Apartments in San Antonio, Texas, across from the Tip Top Café in the 2800 block of Fredericksburg Road.
