We were quite excited to see over the weekend that John Picacio’s cover to the the eagerly awaited 2012 A Song of Ice and Fire calendar was revealed on author George R.R. Martin’s Not a Blog. While most of the buzz on the internet has justifiably been about HBO’s Game of Thrones series premiering April 17th, we are jazzed that John has completed this project and look forward to it’s release at the San Diego ComicCon in July.
The cover shows Ned Stark in front of a weirwood tree and the interior is packed with original illustrations of Arya, the Kingslayer, Sansa and the Hound, Melisandre, Bran, Daenerys, Jon Snow and Ghost, Robb the Young Wolf, Tyrion at the Battle of the Blackwater, the Mountain battling the Viper, and the Others.
