The San Antonio Browncoats are presenting the original pilot episodes of excellent, but short-lived, SF series Firefly. This is your chance to catch them in their full glory on the big screen at the Alamo Drafthouse Westlakes. The show is Thursday January 27th at 7:00 PM and admission is absolutely free.
The episodes being shown are Serenity Parts 1 and 2. These episodes were the pilot of the series, although Fox chose to show a third episode. The Train Job, first when they were originally broadcast in 2002. Serenity was nominated for the 2003 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form and is a great introduction to the characters and concepts of the series.
Besides free admission, you will enjoy great company and a darned good show with the best gorram crew in San Antonio. RSVP on the Browncoats’ Meetup page and you’ll be entered for Firefly swag and door prizes. Bring a friend (or two, or three) and each guest earns you another entry.
Here is the About the Episode blurb:
Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) and Zoe Washburne (Gina Torres) are survivors of their rebel unit in the Battle of Serenity Valley during the Unification War, in which their side lost. They are now eking out an existence on the edges of space in their Firefly-class spaceship Serenity, taking odd jobs even if they involve petty crime. They take on passengers to supplement their income, but one has a secret that makes their lives more difficult.
