David Liss' Black Panther stalks the rooftops of Manhattan.

San Antonio novelist David Liss will sign copies of the first issue of his on-going run of the Marvel comic Black Panther: The Man Without Fear at Atomic Comics on Wednesday, Dec. 15. The event runs from 6-8 p.m.

Liss, who’s written a string of critically acclaimed historical thrillers, teamed up with acclaimed artist Francesco Francavilla on the Black Panther project. The series follows African noble-turned-superhero T’Challa as he stalks the dangerous streets of Hell’s Kitchen once patrolled by Daredevil.

Launched more than 40 years ago, Black Panther was arguably the first black superhero in mainstream comics.

Marvel announced Liss would be writing the new series back in September. His previous work for the comics giant was Daring Mystery Comics 70th Anniversary Special #1, which featured the never-before-told origins of Golden Age-hero The Phantom Reporter.

Atomic Comics is located at 3420 N.St. Mary’s St. in San Antonio. Its phone number is 210-826-3223.
