This month’s Doctor Who Appreciation Night features the two-parter The Hungry Earth and Cold Blood starring Matt Smith as The Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond. The show starts tonight (Wednesday August 18th) at 7:30 PM at the Alamo Drafthouse Westlakes (1255 SW Loop 410, 210.677.8500). Admission is free.
In The Hungry Earth the year is 2015 and the most ambitious drilling project in history has reached deeper below the Earth’s crust than man has ever gone – but now the ground itself is fighting back. The Doctor, Amy and Rory arrive in a tiny mining village and find themselves battling a deadly danger from a bygone age.
The story concludes with the episode Cold Blood – The most important day in the history of Earth – the dawn of a new age of harmony or the start of its final war. The Doctor must face his most difficult challenge yet – a battle he can’t take sides in, and a day when nobody must die.
Doctor Who Appreciation Night is organized monthly by Doctor Who Fans Unite and features camaraderie, vendors, costumes and plenty of good fun. Check it out.
