After the wildly successful and tear-streamingly funny screening of Manos: The Hands of Fate in July, the Overtime Theater will continue hosting MST@OT, a monthly screening of a Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode. The monthly event will be hosted by local MST3K fan, filmmaker and bon vivant Joey Carrillo.
For our August 20 movie, we’ll show the MST3K version of The Killer Shrews. No, it isn’t a slasher remake of a Shakespeare war-of-the-sexes comedy. A mad scientist on a deserted island creates “out-of-control, flesh-eating, monstrous giant shrews.” A diverse group lands on the island, and then…a hurricane hits. Well, the movie is rather Shakespearean after all, in a temptestous sort of way! The movie starts at 10 pm, Friday, August 20. Only 60 seats are available, so make reservations at theovertimetheater@gmail.com. Free but donations gladly accepted.
Wish I could be there for this. I went last month and it was amazing. Seriously, there’s something added when it’s an auditorium full of people screaming at how awful the movie is. I laughed and laughed.
