The Centro Cultural Aztlan (1800 Fredericksburg Rd., Suite 103, 210-432-1896) hosts their 19th annual exhibit of superhero art. The Aztlan runs this art contest for students in kindergarten through high school. Students illustrate a person who has positively influenced their lives…their own personal superhero.
The opening reception is Saturday May 8th from 12-3pm. Award ceremony followed by entertainment by students from NYA (Network for Young Artists) and a special presentation and reading from Xavier Garza, children’s book author and illustrator of Lucha Libre: The Man with the Silver Mask and other children books. The exhibit runs through May 28th, 2010.
The exhibit and opening reception are free and open to the public.
Centro Cultural Aztlan seeks to develop, maintain and promote the consciousness of the art and culture of San Antonio through various programs. The Aztlan is a nonprofit organization located in the historic Deco Building that sits on what was once the Old Spanish Trail and is in the heart of San Antonio’s Arts and Culture district.
