I wish I had known about this eariler as I have a friend interested in this kind of thing. Another friend of mine, someone with San Japan, did attend the event. He told me at one of the panel, it became a little heated between sci-fi folk (old school) and the anime folk (new school?). At times the debate evolved into "Us vs. Them." Although, I wasn't there first hand, I can understand how such a debate can erupt in these difficult times. One thing you can never get away from though is "Con-Drama!" Anyways, This is definitely something to look into in the future.

Thanks for making the trip for the panel. Your presence made for quite a lively discussion.

I've seen a post that indicated the payment issue made it on to a subsequent panel as well. The issue appears to be getting some air time.

Good to see you too, Scott, however briefly. I came to do the panel and had to hit the road immediately thereafter. It was a quick con visit, but a good one.

I attended SMOFCon this weekend and had a great time. I met many major fans I had not met before, ran into MU's John Picacio, and saw SA's Stewart Smith schmoozing around learning about various convention things. It was small, informative, and had many great things to do. California hosts next year's.
