San Antonio’s comedy gangbangers Comedia A Go-Go are, as we say in Texas, fixin’ to get ready to make their first feature length movie. This comedy/horror flick will tell the tale of four hispanic cousins who don’t speak Spanish and their unwitting discovery of the family secret: la familia has links to the witchcraft and black magic of South Texas. Surely you have fond memories of CAGG’s short film LARP, winner of the 2007 AMD Bloodshots 48 Hour competition, so you know this movie has a lot of potential. Casting is done, but they still need your help.
Comedia A Go-Go is having a fundraiser this Friday to raise the scratch to get the cameras rolling. Two members of the troupe, Larry & Regan, will bring the nation’s only Latino stand-up comedy duo (themselves) to the Josephine Theater on Friday, September 4th at 9:00pm. Larry & Regan will be filming a new DVD special, Big Red & Barbacoa. Their show is a mix of stand-up and sketch comedy and promises to keep the laughs coming non-stop.
Having worked with Comedia A Go-Go since 2001, Larry & Regan have consistently entertained audiences across the country with their no-holds-barred look on life, love and being Latino. From their hilarious interactions with the crowd, to their quirky impressions of couples making love, Larry & Regan manage to keep the audience in stitches. Friday’s show will be include pieces from their first album, Good Guys Wear Fat, as well as material from their stage play, What Makes Us Mexican.
The Josephine Theater is at 339 W Josephine Street. The Josephine Theater originally opened in 1947 as an art-deco style neighborhood movie house, but since 1995 has been home to a non-profit resident theater group, the Josephine Theatrical Company, Inc. The cost for the show is a very reasonable $10 at the door.
It’s not really SF/F/H, but I’m sure the film in the heads of the Comedia boys will be worthwhile. Come on out and show your support.
