OK, it’s not THE Doctor, but Doctor Who Fans Unite who have formed a team for the 19th Annual 5K Walk for Life benefiting the San Antonio AIDS Foundation. The Walk for Life promotes awareness and generates funds that allow SAAF to continue its pursuit of providing compassionate medical care and social services to people with HIV/AIDS and to help prevent the spread of HIV through education and free HIV testing
Doctor Who Fans Unite was created not just to bring together fans of the long-running television show Doctor Who, they have united with the common interest of following the beliefs of The Doctor by serving the community as a group.
You can join the DWFU Team online, just fill out the form and check the box to join a team. The team name is, naturally, Doctor Who Fans Unite.
The 5K Walk for Life will be at Woodlawn Lake Park (1103 Cincinnati Street). The schedule for the event is as follows:
- 8:00 am Individual & Team Registration
- 8:45 am Austin Showgirls Performance
- 9:15 am Opening Ceremonies
- 9:30 am Walk Begins
- 11:00 am Closing Ceremonies & Winner Announcements
Come out for a great time and to help a great cause…The Doctor would want you to.
And don’t forget that Wednesday, September 16th is Doctor Who Appreciation Night at the Alamo Drafthouse Westlakes. Doctor Who Fans Unite will be showing the Doctor Who episodes Blink (2008 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form) and The Girl in the Fireplace (2007 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form) on the big screen. Showtime is 7:30 pm, admission is free.
This is DWFU’s one-year anniversary at the Alamo Drafthouse and to celebrate the Drafthouse is selling Exclusive Doctor Who Pint Glasses. The folks from Dragon’s Lair will also be on hand with loads of Doctor Who merchandise for sale. Come for great food, a vast assortment of beer on tap, the Doctor larger-than-life on the big screen and expect be greeted by various Doctor Who characters!

Thanks for posting this for us. We raised $560 and had a blast. We had 17 members on our team as well. We hope to expand our team next year and make a much larger donation.
