The San Antonio Local Film Festival issued the challenge: remake the film of your choice as a 10-minute-or-less short. Films had to be shot in 2009 and only Bexar County residents were eligible to compete.
Well, the cinematic gold is in the can and it’s time to see how these flicks measure up to the originals and the audience.
SALFF’s Summer Remake Challenge lineup has been announced and the films will screen at 8:00 this Friday, August 7th at The Radius Center (106 Auditorium Circle) in downtown San Antonio. This year’s lineup looks particularly interesting for SF and Horror fans with new short takes on Blade Runner, Night of the Living Dead and Psycho. You can peruse the complete lineup on the SAL site.
210SA has an article covering the festival, complete with quotes from Psycho remaker Pete “Mistah Pete” Barnstrom and festival director Darlene Miller.
San Antonio Film Institute (SAFI), a non-profit organization dedicated to serving San Antonio filmmakers and their audiences, has put on the San Antonio Local Film Festival since 2007. The festival is a yearly film showcase that provides an opportunity to support local filmmakers by providing cash awards, educational opportunities, and a screening for the city of San Antonio and supporters of independent film.
Come on down, show your support of filmmaking in San Antonio and join the fun. The cost is only $5, less than the price of the last soulless thriller you saw at the megaplex. The audience will determine the winner, so let your voice be heard.

Eek. She doesn’t leave much to the imagination. Still, *hearing* about my porn ‘stache and* seeing* it are two different things.
It should be a hoot, and followed by an after party at Patty O’s. Hope to see you there! ~Wes
‘So looking forward to the screening! Congrats to the teams that took on the challenge. It will certainly be a fun show! dar
