48 Hour Film Project Recap

The 2009 48 Hour Film Project is history, but you can still check out some of the films submitted for the contest. San Antonio filmmakers put together a wide variety of movies over the course of an exceedingly long weekend. Take a look at a sampling…

Team Animate or Die’s Attack of the Vampire Ninja Bats won Best Use of Prop (cookie), Best Use of the Line (”I’ll go back and check”), Best Graphics and Best Script. Animate or Die included Mistah Pete Barnstrom (Left Foot Red, Mars Needs Bibles), Jose Carillo (Lone Bannana Productions, What To Do In A Zombie Attack), Don Rios and Dan Smith.

Bijou Askew Studios submitted My Super Jerk about an unfortunate guy with a super hero for a coworker. They won Best Use of Character.

Diversus Films gives us the sitcom-like Simply Shannon where Shannon’s antics with her robot pal are accompanied by a laugh track.

Nice Work Productions submitted Watched. It didn’t make Saturday’s Best Of show, but it has a good creepy vibe nonetheless. You can get an inside look at life under the 48-hour gun on Beto Lab.

Team Nosferatu serves up N.H.I. (No Humans Involved), a taut little murder mystery.

Rounding out the list of awards:

  • Best Cinematography and Sound Design: Muse in Repose
  • Group A Audience Favorite: Muse in Repose
  • Group B Audience Favorite: Fantasy Inc.
  • Best Film: Denoument (the primes)
  • Best Directing: Denoument (the primes)
  • Best Acting Ensemble: Denoument (the primes)
  • Best Editing: Denoument

We’ll bring you more entries from the 48 Hour Film Project as they are posted to the web.
