One bright side to the Internet’s ongoing campaign to snuff the life from the newspaper industry is the rise of Web Comics. No longer are you captive to your newspaper editor’s Marmaduke fetish, you can explore strange new comics, seek out new art and new creators, boldly go where no scandal sheet could go before.
I love web comics and there are several that I check regularly: The geekalicious Hijinks Ensue (by fellow Texan Joel Watson), the jaggy robots at Diesel Sweeties, the always relevant Joy of Tech and even the brilliantly surreal Garfield Minus Garfield. So you can imagine my delight when I discovered that San Antonio not only has a sweet Web Comic, but that it also has occasional SF themes.
Take a look at KiDD AND GEEZER by Frank Zieglar. You may have seen Frank at one of San Antonio’s popular theme parks, he makes a living by day as a caricaturist. I guess that gives him lots of practice for whipping out comic strips, he’s been dropping new ones three times a week since March. To get a feel for the strip, check out this recent run regarding the latest Star Trek movie:
