HOT OFF THE PRESSES: Two new books from award-winning sf author Damien Broderick
San Antonio resident and five-time Ditmar Award winner Damien Broderick recently celebrated two brand-new book releases. UNCLE BONES is a collection of four sf novellas, published by Fantastic Books. I’M DYING HERE, “a darkly comic crime caper that leaves no taboo, or cell phone, unviolated” was co-written with Rory Barnes, and just released from Point Blank.
MISSIONS UNKNOWN will feature Broderick in a “Made In SA” interview feature later this month. For now, here are a few words from Spider Robinson about Broderick’s place in the sf continuum: “For quite a few years now, readers have been asking me, Who is the new Phil Dick? Who’ll be the Zelazny of this generation? Where is the next Frederik Pohl, the replacement for Robert Sheckley, the Damon Knight of the new millennium? Who’s writing stuff like they did in the Golden Age–stuff that surprises and delights me with new, unexpected ways of looking at the universe, new ways of telling a story, new ways of thinking? It is nice to have at least one answer: they’re in Australia, and their name is Damien Broderick.”

I am anxiously awaiting that interview.
Actually, Damien Broderick relocated from Australia to Texas to live with his lovely American bride. But what is it about these Australians? They seem to crank out a lot of great science fiction writers and actors? lol
Scott — Should be up in a couple of weeks.
John — Yup, we’re aware that he’s an Aussie native transplanted here. Our “Made In SA” features focus on current SA/South Texas residents doing quality work in the sf/f/h fields, but they don’t have to necessarily be SA “natives”.
I’m looking forward to reading these, especially Uncle Bones. I’ve always loved novellas. I wish there were more markets for them.
