Poster for Duncan Jones' film MOON (Liberty Films/Sony)
And you’re invited!
Here’s the skinny: Duncan Jones’ new sf film MOON is reportedly coming to San Antonio’s Santikos Bijou at Crossroads on Friday, July 10th. We here at MISSIONS UNKNOWN — Sanford Allen, Paul Vaughn and Yours Truly — are locked and loaded to see this film on opening night, and we’re inviting all MISSIONS UNKNOWN readers to join us.
Tickets are not on sale yet. We’ll let you know when they are, as we’ll post a fresh update every week until July 10th. Meantime, let us know you’re coming — leave a comment below. Each week, we’ll post the updated list of names and see if we can’t pack the theatre that night. Why are we so excited about this film? Check out the trailer and see if you don’t feel the same way.
Peter Travers of ROLLING STONE says “Director Duncan Jones (son of David Bowie), working from a script by Nathan Parker, pulls off sci-fi miracles on a $5 million shoestring. MOON is a potent provocation that relies on ideas instead of computer tricks to stir up excitement.”
If you don’t care what the mainstream critics have to say, and instead prefer the opinion of a hardcore sf man, then here’s Hugo Award-nominated editor Lou Anders of Pyr with the early word on why he can’t wait for this film.
San Antonio fans of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, ALIEN, and smart sf cinema — this one’s got the makings of a winner.

This is one I’ve been waiting to see since I first heard about it.
I definitely want to see this movie. I can’t think of a better way to experience it than with a group of like minded enthusiasts. Count me in.
I was hoping we’d get this movie. I’m there.
Count me and the wife in. See ya there!
