Hats off to horror homeboy JOE MCKINNEY. His new book Quarantined (Lachesis Publishing, 2009), is now on sale at Amazon and Lachesis.
In the book, a deadly flu outbreak threatens to wipe out the populace of San Antonio. The military quarantines the Alamo City to halt the spread of the disease. Amid the chaos, homicide detective Lily Harris finds a murder victim hidden among the plague dead, and her questions begin to make some powerful and dangerous people very uncomfortable.
Those of you who read our recent Q&A with Joe know that he works as an SAPD homicide detective when he’s not writing fiction. So you can expect him to bring a certain amount of grit and authenticity to Quarantined.
Part apocalyptic sf and part police procedural, Quarantined is already getting some great reviews. The book is “rich in character and action, often brutal and sometimes touching,” writes BRUCE BOSTON, author of The Guardener’s Tale. “Joe McKinney’s latest is the kind of novel that may keep you up late into the night because it’s so hard to put down.”
And for those of you who just can’t get enough McKinney, his short story “Plague Dogs” appears in the recently released anthology Potter’s Field 3 (Sam’s Dot Publishing, 2009). While not a sequel to Quarantined, “Plague Dogs” takes place in the same disease-ravaged world.
