How about San Antonio’s DAMIEN BRODERICK? Talk about a guy on a roll…
Beyond having a spate of new sf releases and stories appearing this year in ASIMOV’S, Damien’s new mainstream novel, QUIPU, is coming out from E-Reads in both print and ebook formats.
In QUIPU, a reimagining of Damien’s prize-winning 1984 novel TRANSMITTERS, one character, Caroline, is going batty. Another, Joseph, can’t talk to women, even if he is a certified high-IQ clever dick trying to take snapshots of the end of the universe. Ray and Marj have their own hassles with in-laws, but student terrorists get in the way. Meanwhile Brian, misogynist and wit, appalls everyone in the quipu world. Quipus? They’re the scandalous fanzines that hikes traded before blogs were invented. Hikes? Why, high-IQ clever dicks, of course.
The book’s drawn some rave reviews too. Arthur C. Clarke Award winner GEORGE TURNER called it ”far and away Broderick’s best novel.”
Oh, and it just so happens MISSIONS UNKNOWN will have a Q&A tomorrow with the prolific Mr. Broderick. This guy’s fricken everywhere!

Love the cover, especially the type treatment.
I like the eye staring out through the thicket of red hair. Fun cover indeed.
George has been away for a while. When was this book published? Looks like the title might be a synonym, given the cover.
Justin, the new book is a “reimagining” of Damien’s 1984 novel Transmitters. George’s quote is in reference to Transmitters.
